HETTIER & VINCENT rare French 1930 art deco chandelier. Lamp France

A very rare large French art deco chandelier by Hettier & Vincent in nickel plated bronze. The fixture holds seven hexagonal shades in moulded-pressed glass. It’s a beautiful model produced for H&V by Holophane (verreries des Hanots and Verlys). All seven cubes are signed Hettier & Vincent France. Hettier & Vincent was a well-known French lighting company. With a high quality finish of their lamp fixtures their chandeliers are now much sought after items. They produced lamps for the top end of the market and had a shop at the prestigeous and beautiful Place de Vosges in Paris – the groundfloor of number 7. The chandelier has a drop of 102 cm (40-5/32″) and it’s about 52 cm wide (20-1/2″). The chandelier is in good condition. It still has its original nickel plating. Of coarse it shows it’s 90 years old and it turned matt but it shows hardly any signs of wear. Most shades have small chips here and there. But really small and nothing is noticeable with the chandelier in place. Really a very good condition for this almost impossible to find top chandelier. It is represented in the 1st supplement of the general Hettier Vincent catalogue, page 137. The chandelier holds seven european candelabra size E14 sockets. For the US canada or Japan I will replace them for American candelabra base ones. Check out over 300 other French art deco lamps in my shop. French lamps and wiring. Art deco lamps made in France were equiped with B22 bayonet sockets. For most countries like Europe or the US such sockets are practicaly impossible to use. For instance in the States 110 volt bulbs with B22 fitters are obscure, very hard to find and only one model bulb in very limited wattages is available. In spite of what sellers of unrestored pieces of poor quality claim in their ads when they offer lamps with bayonet caps sockets : except for the UK and Australia French chandeliers and lamps need to be rewired for your country. In order to fit Edison large or small screw base bulbs as used in the USA, B22 sockets have to be replaced by American candelabra base or standard/medium size Edison screw-in sockets. E14 and E27 are modern replacements for European countries. An additional complication is that the size thread used in early French lighting to connect the sockets to the chandelier mountings or lamp bases is not compatible with the modern size threads used in the USA and Europe. New American or European sockets do not just screw on to the old lamp fixtures. In order to make it possible to use an original old French chandelier or lamp with modern screw bulb bases, a specialized restorer will have to re-tap the threads. All my cleaned and restored chandeliers, sconces and lamps come rewired with the correct sockets you will need to use modern bulbs in your country. The base is by the. A famous Parisian company in lighting during the interbellum. The base can be seen on page 7 in the General Catalogue H&V issued. In the catalogue it holds a Gallé shade. Over the years I have seen many lamps with this model iron base. I even had this model in different sizes. In the catalogues they published we can see that for the coloured shades they mainly worked with Daum sometimes Muller and for a few lamps they used shades of the glass factories Schneider Gallé or Baccarat. The height of the lamp is 35.8 cm (14-3/32). The shade has a diameter of 18 cm. It is signed Lorrain in acid. Lorrain was a 2nd plant Daum freres opened just after the 1st worldwar where mainly vases and shades for lighting in coloured glass was made. The lamp is in excellent condition. No chips or cracks. A small production irregularity on top of the bowl a little bubbled uneven area, not distracting at all. The base has a nice deep-brown patina and the lamp is rewired with new twisted rayon covered cord, new plug and switch. It is equiped with a metal and porcelain european E14 socket. If you prefer I can place an old B22 bayonet cap socket. For the States I will place a US candelabra base socket and 2-prong plug. Check out over 250 other French art deco lamps in my shop. HETTIER & VINCENT pair FRENCH 1930 ART DECO WALL SCONCES. Lamp muller era

A wonderful pair of French art deco uplight wall sconces in polished bronze and moulded-pressed glass. A hard to find model by this prestigious Paris based lighting shop. For their range of shades in moulded-pressed glass they often used unsigned ones made by Verreries des Hanots either Hettier Vincent signed shades exclusively produced for them by des Hanots. In the supplements of the general HV catalogue it shows in later years they also sometimes used pressed shades by Muller freres for their fixtures. The cups on this pair of sconces were made for HV by verreries des Hanots and are signed. Hettier & Vincent france. Often lamps are offered as being Hettier Vincent that are no authentic HV items at all. Many sellers place HV signed glasses on cheap if not worthless mounts and call their item a Hettier Vincent lamp. No overpriced junk like that in my shop. The mounts of this pair of sconces are authentic H&V fixtures. See the picture of a downlight version of this model sconces in the 1925-27. The sconces are about 16 cm (11-3/4) high come 26 cm of the wall and the glass cups have a diameter of 14,6 cm. The pair is in good condition. Both shades have a chip. I turned the chipped side towards the wall and placed like that it hardly shows. I will wire them for the States with US candelabra base sockets. For other countries I can place either E14 or B22 ones. Check out over 200 other French art deco lamps in my shop. Visit my store: paravas com. French lamps and wiring.
