A wonderful 1925-30 french art deco lamp in wrought iron of excellent quality. The forged base holds a nice coloured shade in mottled glass paste produced by Schneider. It is signed with the usual Schneider signature used in this period. The lamp is in excellent condition. It’s 39,6 cm high (15-5/8 inches) 29,3 cm long and the shade has a diameter of 9.7 cm. The lamp is rewired with new cloth covered twisted cord and is equiped with. An old B22 bayonet cap one socket. For countries in Europe I can place. A new european E14 one. For the States I will rewire the lamp with a US candelabra base socket and US 2-prong plug. I can also wire for Australia. Check out over 250 other French art deco lamps in my shop. Visit my store: paravas com. French lamps and wiring. Art deco lamps made in France were equiped with B22 bayonet sockets. For most countries like Europe or the US such sockets are practicaly impossible to use. For instance in the States 110 volt bulbs with B22 fitters are obscure, very hard to find and only one model bulb in very limited wattages is available. In spite of what sellers of unrestored pieces of poor quality claim in their ads when they offer lamps with bayonet caps sockets : except for the UK and Australia French chandeliers and lamps need to be rewired for your country. In order to fit Edison large or small screw base bulbs as used in the USA, B22 sockets have to be replaced by American candelabra base or standard/medium size Edison screw-in sockets. E14 and E27 are modern replacements for European countries. An additional complication is that the size thread used in early French lighting to connect the sockets to the chandelier mountings or lamp bases is not compatible with the modern size threads used in the USA and Europe. New American or European sockets do not just screw on to the old lamp fixtures. In order to make it possible to use an original old French chandelier or lamp with modern screw bulb bases, a specialized restorer will have to re-tap the threads. All my cleaned and restored chandeliers, sconces and lamps come rewired with the correct sockets you will need to use modern bulbs in your country. The item “SCHNEIDER FRENCH ART DECO LAMP. A company that best can be compared to for instance. Le fer forgé HF. In Lyon or the blacksmith. In Paris: large firms with a huge output not always of the highest quality. But we can be selective and go for the best, since unrestored pieces of these companies show up for sale on a daily basis. Most of the iron and bronze fixtures of Cherpion are unsigned. Some iron lampbases and chandelier mounts are marked. Some bronze pieces like the lamp on offer are marked CN. The lamp holds a nice and heavy shade in moulded-pressed glass signed Schneider France 402. The height of the lamp is 28,2 cm (11-7/64). It is in excellent condition. The base has been renickeled and the lamp is rewired with new twisted rayon covered cord, new plug and switch. It is equiped with a european E14 socket. If you prefer I can place an old B22 bayonet cap socket. For the States I will place a US candelabra base socket and 2-prong plug. Check out over 200 other French art deco lamps in my shop.
