RARE ORIGINAL ART DECO 1920′s GLASS GREEN FROG NOVELTY TABLE LAMP. 16.1cm (6 3/8″) high x 4 7/8″ long x 4 1/8 wide. A highly unusual Art Deco novelty moulded glass lamp in the shape of a seated frog. It could conceivably could be a toad if it’s skin is spotted. The oval metal base is moulded in relief with lily pads. The lamp is really in the naturalistic Art Nouveau style although probably made in the Deco period. Possibly French or Continental. I suspect it is very difficult to find a similar example. The glass seems to have a pale orange tinge and the surface is a green colour. The lamp displays beautifully and operates perfectly. I might suggest using a low wattage bulb or smaller size than the current to avoid too much heat and to get a softer glowing effect which was probably originally intended. A rare attractive and quirky novelty item that would fit with most interiors. The item “RARE ORIGINAL ART DECO 1920′s GLASS GREEN FROG NOVELTY TABLE LAMP” is in sale since Thursday, August 15, 2019. RARE Antique 1930's Art Deco APT Novelty Co. DOUBLE NUDE Lamp Frankart Design

RARE Antique 1930′s Art Deco APT Novelty Co. DOUBLE NUDE Lamp Frankart Design. Here we have a rare antique (or very vintage depending on your definitions) 1930′s beautiful Art Deco lamp, made and signed by the APT Novelty Co. APT was a direct competitor of Frankart, also located in NYC, who only produced deco nude lamps from around 1930 to 1932. For those of you who recognize our username, you know that we have been Frankart dealers and collectors for 35 years and have owned or at least seen virtually every Frankart, NuArt, Ronson, APT, etc. That said, we have never come across this unusually large double-figure APT variant so based on our experience we’d say it must be quite a rarity indeed. White metal (aka: spelter or pot metal). Lamp features two nude women sitting atop a pedestal in demure pose. These woman are quite similar to Frankart’s patented T-339 design, and interestingly enough, in 1930 Frankart actually brought a design patent infringement suit against APT based on the similarity, but the case was ultimately dismissed due to the fact that both companies had the women’s arms in a different pose. This lamp features a unique acorn shaped amber glass light shade with a crackle finish. This is the shade found on most APT lamps and is believed to be original to the fixture, however it is a standard fitter size so other shades could be substituted if desired. The lamp has a Leviton light socket and working rotary switch which by the type of cord used appears to have been re-wired in the 60s or 70s. Item has been tested and is in working condition! The lamp shows some expected loss of finish on the base, as well as the two women but still displays well. Remarkably there are no cracks or breaks to the spelter – even the flat base has survived unscathed which if you are an experienced collector you know is a big bonus. You may wish to replace the missing felt on the bottom but otherwise it’s ready to go. Since the jury is out on repainting, we’ve elected to leave this lamp in it’s original as-found condition, but it would be an easy repaint if you so chose. Dimensions: approx 6&7/8″l x 14&7/8″w x 8&1/2h 7lbs 14oz. Item(s) will be professionally packed to inhibit opportunities for damage in transit.
